Gel and Acrylics?! Pro's and con's.

Hey guys,

Nice to see you again on my blog! Today we are going to talk about the pro's and con's of both Gel and Acrylics. These are two different kind of products used to make fake nails. Gel is, as you can guess, a gel kind substance which needs to be cured in a UV light or LED light. Acrylics is a powder which is soaked with monomer and than placed on the nails. Acrylics don't need to be cured in an LED or UV light.

First we're going to talk about the pro's and con's of Gel. Gel is a really easy and nice way to form fake nails. Gel also has the ability to constantly be re-formed as it needs to be cured in a UV or LED light. This gives you the oppertunity to adjust any mistake you make during the placement. Also Gel is very flexibel, which gives your natural nail the oppertunity to grow in a natural way. Gel is also not bad for your natural nail, even though it needs to be removed by a professional, it doesn't harm the natural nails in a very bad way. Though Gel has a lot of pro's it also has it's con's. If your client has warm fingers, the Gel will run over the nails into the sidewalls. This is very annoying and means that you'll have to start over. You can not cure the nail this way because the gel will cure in the sidewalls of the nails, which makes the fake nails easier to fall off.

Acrylics were the first way known to make fake nails. But nowadays, Gel is a often more picked way over acrylics. Acrylics don't cure in a light, but cure instantly when the in monomer drained pencil is put in the acrylics powder. Eventhough Acrylics is a lot harder than gel, it's very bad for your nails and the health of the nailartist. Acrylics need a lot of time to set and will stick to your natural nails. Because acrylics are very hard they will not let the natural nails grow in a natural order.

The biggest difference between acrylics and gel is that gel is way better for your natural nail. Acrylics are very hard and gel is way more flexibel. This is better for the natural growth of your nails.

Now you know a little more about gel and acrylics. I hope to see you on my next blog about Nailart Technics.

Love xo
